Women in GIS 2024 Election


In April 2024, WiGIS Members will elect key roles in WiGIS leadership.  

THE NOMINATION PERIOD HAS ENDED - VOTING IS UNDERWAY! If you are a current dues-paying member, check your email inbox for details on voting and be sure to vote! The voting period is from April 15-21, 2024.

All current dues-paying members are eligible to vote in the election and qualify for nomination.


  1. Vice President (VP): As an officer of the WiGIS Board of Directors, the Vice President will serve for one year as VP, moves into the role of President in year two, and serves as Past President in year three. The Vice President works alongside the President in various projects and running of the organization. The Vice President also is an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  2. Secretary: Carries out key administrative functions for WiGIS, such as coordinating quarterly board and other meetings, keeping records and meeting minutes, and running and certifying WiGIS elections. The Secretary also assists with and serves as an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  3. Internal Affairs Committee Chair: This committee lead handles all internal and operational matters for the organization. These items include but are not limited to finance/budget, elections, membership and sponsor relations.

  4. Mentorship Committee Chair: Responsible for managing, supporting, and growing the WiConnect Mentorship Program in collaboration with committee volunteers. Ensure mentors and mentees receive the necessary assistance needed to support their partnerships.

  5. Awards & Scholarships Committee Chair: Responsible for setting up guidelines and criteria for work and persons recognition, initiating the call for submission for the annual awards and scholarships, review submitted work and nominated persons.

  6. Outreach Committee Chair: Responsible for engaging members and potential members, managing online calendar, posting activities and events, coordinating conference presence, maintaining social media sites and quarterly newsletters, coordinating local chapter efforts, etc. Also responsible for collecting and assessing suggested changes to the website, making changes as appropriate and necessary to keep it up to date.

  • Vote! Elections will be held mid-April. WiGIS members, be on the lookout for an email from us with a link to the form to cast your vote.

Election Timeline:
March 29th: Nominations Due (by 5:00pm Pacific Time)
April 15th – April 21st Voting Period
April 24th: Nominees notified of election results
