Women in GIS 2025 Election

In May 2025, WiGIS Members will elect key roles in WiGIS leadership.  

All current dues-paying members are eligible for nomination in the election and qualify for nomination.

  1. Vice President (VP): As an officer of the WiGIS Board of Directors, the Vice President will serve for one year as VP, moves into the role of President in year two, and serves as Past President in year three. The Vice President works alongside the President in various projects and running of the organization. The Vice President also is an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  2. Treasurer: The Treasurer is vital to maintaining the financial viability and health of WiGIS. Duties include: tracks and accounts for WiGIS revenues and expenses; conducts banking and pays bills on behalf of the organization; tracks membership and member dues; prepares quarterly budgets and financial reports for the Board of Directors; and tac preparation. the Treasurer also serves as an officer participant on the Internal Affairs Committee.

  3. Internal Affairs Committee Chair: This committee lead handles all internal and operational matters for the organization. These items include but are not limited to finance/budget, elections, and membership guidelines. Works closely with the Treasurer, External Engagement Committee, and Executive Team (President, past-President, and Vice President) on internal organizational matters.

  4. Chapter Committee Chair: Responsible for managing and supporting the WiGIS chapters, reviewing and recommending new chapters, coordinating regular Chapter Leads meetings, and providing guidance to chapters as needed.

  5. Professional Development Committee Chair: Leads and works with members of the Professional Development Committee to offer professional development resources to our members and potential members. These include but are not limited to webinars, workshops and symposiums covering both technical (hard skills) and professional development (soft skills).

  • Vote! Elections will be held mid-May. WiGIS members, be on the lookout for an email from us with a link to the form to cast your vote.

Election Timeline:
May 5th Nominations Due (by 5:00pm Pacific Time)
May 10th – May 17th Voting Period
May 18th - Nominees notified of election results
