The idea is that just having others present (even silently working on their own tasks) helps reduce distractions and boost motivation. Join us to work on your own projects in a supportive, no-pressure environment where showing up together makes it easier to get things done.

How does body doubling work?

  1. Can be done both in-person or virtual
  2. It’s a dedicated timed time where each participants share intentions to the other participants prior to starting on their work. Questions like “what are you working on?” help to get the conversation flowing!
  3. Once stating the desired intentions, the participants will mute themselves, BUT KEEP THEIR CAMERAS ON (if possible). That’s the “body doubling” component since the other person’s presence is a reminder of what we intended to set out to work on
  4. The timer will count down to the agreed upon time
  5. After the timer goes off, the participants will come off mute and reflect about how the session went for them. Remember: body doubling and the participants involved are morally neutral. These sessions are great to help recalibrate and help participants stay on task.

Body Doubling is a GREAT accommodation/ strategy for the neurodivergent community and can be really effective. If you’re more of a visual learning through video, How to ADHD’s video on body doubling is HERE!
