All across the world, GIS Day is celebrated on the third Wednesday of November. It is a day when geo-geeks get to show off what we do and it is an opportunity to teach non-gis folk about geography and the technology we use to map the world.
This past GIS Day, a volunteer on our Outreach Committee, Dorris A. Scott, took the opportunity GIS Day afforded to let folks know about Women in GIS.
Ms. Scott attends the University of Georgia in Athens. The UGA Geography Department put on a good show for GIS Day 2017 and we are thankful they allowed a small space to celebrate not only geography, but women in geography, too.
